History of Cybi & Seiriol
The two saints, Cybi and Seiriol, were both heads of monasteries and lived on two islands off the coast of Ynys Môn (Anglesey), Ynys Cybi (Holy Island) and Ynys Seiriol (Puffin Island).
They were friends and they met each other at the well of Clorach, about halfway between their islands, to converse and share news.
Cybi would travel from west to east in the morning and back west in the evening, so the sun would shine on his face as he came and went home.
Seiriol, on the other hand, would travel from the east, and his back would be to the sun as he came and went home.
As their meetings were regular occurrences, Cybi's face became tanned from the sun while Seiriol's face remained pale and that is why they are known as Seiriol Wyn and Cybi Felyn.
